Completed paper mache projects.
Completed artist birthday posters.
Week of April 24th, 2017, students will be presenting about their artist and the gifts that they are giving them. Our next project will be a paper mache sculpture inspired by a "word of the day" . The form will be showing an emotion or motion according to another "word of the day". The Spring art final will be an acrylic painting on a stretched canvas over a frame. Students will need to search for an image that has an object in the foreground, an object in the mid-ground, and an object in the back ground. The objects need to have strong lighting on them, so students can paint the highlights, mid-tones, and shadows seen. Please print in color. Due : Tuesday, May 10th, 2017, 30 points.
On Saturday, 4/8/17, Mrs. Dikinis taught fellow art educators how to make Lanterns with Chinese imagery and symbols as the focus. Art educators came from Phoenix and Tucson. The workshop was hosted by Arizona Art Education Association at the AOT high school.

Mobiles made from the color charts.
End of November 2016 - Students are preparing for their art final by building painting skills. They just completed color charts with acrylic by mixing primary colors to create secondary and tertiary colors. They will create a mobile from the 5 inch by 2 inch rectangles. To put color mixing to a practical project, students will next be painting a still life. The Fall Art Final will be formed from the student's self portrait index cards they did every morning.
November 2016 - Our student choice subject matter and media independent project.
Our finished stencils. The cutting out to create the stencil took the most time. A reminder of the whole project's process -Throughout September students have researched two perspectives of an issue that is important to them. They designed a poster portraying a perspective appealing to the audience's logos or ethos or pathos. To create the poster, students are using a simple two layer stencil.
The stencil itself becomes an art work. What we have so far.

Examples of Honor A Person project. Students choose family members, friends, historical figures and even Super Heroes when making this project.
On 8/16/16, classes started drawing their Honor a Person project onto paper. Students have been spending the last few days experimenting with various media ( color pencil, pastel, or acrylic paint), so they can decide what would work best with their project.
Welcome to art! For art classes, students will need a 1 inch binder with 5 tabs to keep their notes, daily reflections and sketches in. They will also need a pencil (No. 2 is fine), pen and a package of 100 index cards. Due Wednesday, August 10th, 2016.
